A circuit breaker is an automatically operated electrical switch designed to protect an electrical circuit from damage caused by overload or short circuit. Its basic function is to detect a fault condition and, by interrupting continuity, to immediately discontinue electrical flow. Unlike a fuse, which operates once and then must be replaced, a circuit breaker can be reset (either manually or automatically) to resume normal operation. A magnetic starter is an electromagnetically-operated switch which provides a safe method for starting an electric motor with a large load. Magnetic starters also provide under-voltage and overload protection, and an automatic cut-off in the event of a power failure. Schneider Electric is one manufacturer we work closely with on a continuous basis, and they provide many of the magnetic starters we currently supply.

Panel boards are a component of an electricity supply system which divide an electrical power feed into subsidiary circuits, while also providing a protective fuse or circuit breaker for each circuit in a common enclosure. Normally a main switch, and in more recent boards, one or more Residual-current devices (RCD) or Residual Current Breakers with Overcurrent protection (RCBO) will also be incorporated.
A transformer is a static electrical device that transfers energy by inductive coupling between its winding circuits. A varying current in the primary winding creates a varying magnetic flux in the transformer's core, and thus a varying magnetic flux through the secondary winding. This varying magnetic flux induces a varying electromotive force (EMF), or "voltage", in the secondary winding.
Electric generators are devices that convert mechanical energy to electrical energy. A generator forces electrical current to flow through an external circuit. The source of the mechanical energy may be a reciprocating or turbine steam engine, water falling through a turbine or waterwheel, an internal combustion engine, wind turbine, hand crank, compressed air, or many other possible sources. A contactor is an electrically-controlled switch used for switching a power circuit, similar to a relay but with higher current ratings. A contactor is controlled by a circuit which has a much lower power level than the switched circuit. A relay is an electrically operated switch. Many relays use an electromagnet to operate a switching mechanism mechanically, but other operating principles are also used. Relays are used where it is necessary to control a circuit by a low-power signal (with complete electrical isolation between control and controlled circuits), or where several circuits must be controlled by one signal.
